One of the reasons that I love fall is that I get to wear tights. They’re warm. They can inject a splash of color. And they add that finishing touch to an outfit.

I think that I’ll wear a pair today!

for care:
Put your hose on slowly – one leg at a time, beginning at the toe and working up. Take them off exactly the same way. Either neatly roll them up or fold them flat and store each pair separately. Sandwich bags are a cheap and easy solution.

Use mild detergent and cold water to wash your hosiery. Hand wash or use a lingerie bag and wash on gentle cycle in the washing machine. Rather than wringing, gently press out as much water as possible and hang them up to dry. Never iron, bleach, or put hose in the dryer.

quick tips:
Cotton or textured underwear can help keep hose from sliding.

Control top pantyhose are both stronger and more durable than regular hosiery.

Moisturize skin and groom nails to prevent snags. Or invest in a pair of simple cotton gloves used specifically for putting on and taking off hosiery.

To prevent runs, lightly mist your hose with hair spray (after you’ve put them on) to stiffen the fibers.

When all else fails, clear nail polish stops runs.

for style:
Hosiery that matches your skirt elongates your figure.
Sheer hose adds a touch of elegance.
Pair patterned tights with a solid color dress or suit and a closed toe pump for jazzy sophistication.
And finally, never pair dark hose with light-colored shoes.

a type of sweater which ties or buttons down the front, is generally machine or hand knitted, and can be worn over tops or shirts and either dressed up or down.

The perfect accessory.

stiletto – a short knife or dagger with a long slender blade ending in a rigid pointed end, primarily used for stabbing as its shape allows for deep penetration.

Ok. Maybe phallic but definitely not feminine.

stiletto heel – a thin, high heel, named after the stiletto dagger, found on some women’s boots and shoes.

They are in current fashion so keep the look feminine.  Do pretty colors, simple embellishments, and flattering cuts. Avoid pointy toes, platforms, metal (including grommets and rivets), and shiny or clear vinyl.

I’m holding onto summer for as long as I can.

Hopefully, a few very simple floral arrangements will do the trick!

I’m thinking of changing my window treatments . . . these are my favorites so far.

Natural makeup enhances your feminine features. It is soft and subtle and gives the appearance of fresh, clean skin. More obvious and defined makeup may be more dramatic but it also gives the wearer a harsh or even hard appearance. And it certainly isn’t feminine.

Healthy, clear skin is your best asset. Not only is it beautiful, even toned skin allows you to omit concealer, foundation, and powder. To achieve a flawless base, click here.

The key is to achieving the look is to blend, blend, blend.

  1. Begin with clean and moisturized skin. Do not forget the sunscreen.
  2. Concealer is only for under eye circles. Select a shade slightly lighter than your natural tone and apply lightly.
  3. Foundation is for masking imperfections so it may not be necessary to cover the entire face. Select a shade which matches your skin tone and apply only a minimal amount. Hint: freckles and moles are beauty marks not imperfections. So you do not want to cover these.
  4. Set your foundation with a dusting of translucent powder.
  5. Groom your brows by brushing or smoothing them into place. Reserve plucking, tweezing, or clipping to brows that are overgrown or the occasional oddly placed stray hair. Full, naturally arched eyebrows indicate health and vitality whereas thin, artificially arched eyebrows indicate age or ill health. Your choice.

For color, stick with earth tones like brown, bronze, gold, or copper.

  1. Apply eye shadow to your entire lid. You can also apply it along your brow bone for a little drama.
  2. Smile and lightly apply blush to the apples of your cheeks.
  3. Exfoliate lips, if necessary, by rubbing them with a wet toothbrush or wash cloth. Next, apply lip balm for moisture. Then stain the lips with color by dotting the color on and pressing the lips together to blend. Blot, if necessary and finish with a light gloss.
  4. Simply curl your eyelashes or apply a couple of coats of mascara. Remember to comb the lashes after the mascara is dry. Omit eye liner completely or use brown rather than black and apply it lightly.

At night, still in keeping with a feminine, subtle appearance, opt for more shimmer and a little bolder color. Think pink, plum, red, or chocolate applied lightly.

And remember to blend, blend, blend.

Just because they make me smile!

Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

There will never be anyone like you.

Dare to be unique.
